Climate Action in 2025

Its been a scary start to the year for those committed to climate action. The Trump administration climate rollbacks have triggered similar moves in the private sector and reduced ambition. With our remaining emission budget to stay below 1.5 degrees all but gone, and emissions still on the rise in many places, it’s easy to lose hope.
So here’s our take, every fraction of a degree helps. All we can do is fight as hard as we can in our corner for every tonne of carbon and the communities around us. Thats the great thing about restoring native forests, while climate change is the North Star, there are so many other fantastic co-benefits from restoration.
So with that in mind we wanted to give a quick update on Climate Action Company. Last year we helped remove more carbon than we have before (2,114 tonnes), all sequestered in biodiverse native forests around the country. This takes us to 6,025 tonnes that we have helped remove in total. We are really proud of this work. But while we remain committed to supporting kiwi farmers to restore native forests, we are increasingly working on projects in the blue economy. These are mainly blue carbon projects, restoring coastal ecosystems. We will have a lot more to say on some of these projects soon so keep following Climate Action Company as we champion nature restoration in 2025.
Best,
